Description
Two panels painted on the exterior of Markham Chantry Chapel in Newark St Mary Magdalene Church, Newark (Nottinghamshire). The left panel represents death portrayed as a skeleton with feminine qualities such as breasts. The right panel represents a man looking at death. Notice how death approaches the male suitor with a rose, as in courtship.
