Title
Souls Chained and Tormented in Hell, by Anonymous (1556)
Description
This illustration shows men and women's souls being chained and tormented by different creatures in hell. The punishment is equal for both sexes. These appear in the center of the image as symmetrically inversed, their genitals being the center point. In hell, the flesh is kept as a means to inflict pain and punishment, as this is, in turn, the origin of their sins. However, no specific punishments are shown for men or women.
